Q: What’s the difference between Swedish and deep tissue?
A: Swedish is geared towards relaxation and tension release. Deep tissue works deeper musculature and focuses on working out knots.
Q: Do you do Swedish or deep tissue?
A: In short, yes. Every therapist has their own individual style of massage therapy. My massage utilizes slower movements (a firm Swedish), and pressure point work with sustained pressure (forms of deep tissue) throughout the massage. I focus on knots as well as general relaxation.
Q: What does the aromatherapy add-on consist of?
A: Essential oils are used throughout the massage via inhalation and in the lotion to encourage relaxation, detoxify the body, and provide various skin benefits.
Q: What is the CBD add-on?
A: CBD (Cannabidiol) is a compound found in the Cannabis plant, and, although it comes from the same plant as THC, it is completely non-psychoactive. Studies have found it to be anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiolytic in nature, helping with aches, pain, tension, and anxiety. CBD oil in an arnica oil base is used throughout the massage; it has a warming sensation and an earthy aroma.
Q: Do I have to undress completely?
A: I ask that you dress down to your comfort level. I will keep you covered the entire time, only exposing areas as I work on them. If wearing a bra, I do ask that you remove or undo the strap so I can work the back freely. I also offer 15 and 30 min “dry” massages that do not require disrobing.
Q: Do I need to do anything post-massage?
A: Immediately after a massage, I suggest to drink plenty of water, get a nice hot soak in a tub/hot shower, and try and take it easy the rest of the day. Sometimes, people may feel sore following a massage (similar to soreness felt after working out). If that occurs, take Tylenol or Ibuprofen if you can and if you need to.
Q: Can I get a massage after a tattoo?
A: I prefer to have the area that is newly tattooed to be finished scabbing/peeling/feeling itchy prior working the area. If the area is not past that point, it will be avoided during the massage.
FYI:
Up to 6 months following any major surgeries (including c-sections), please ok it with your Dr. before receiving a massage.
Please inform me of any medical conditions or changes (particularly cardiovascular history and medications).
If you have high/low blood pressure or high/low blood sugar, please be sure your levels are regulated before receiving any massage services.
*** any inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and will result in immediate termination of the service at full cost of the service.
TIP:
Sometimes it’s hard to relax during a massage; close your eyes, let your body be heavy, and imagine yourself sinking into the bed. If I need to move you, I will move you (or I will ask you to move).
